India Through A Sketch Artist's Eyes

While travelling on Intrepid Travel's Golden Triangle trip, a Chicago-based artist Jane Labowitch took an 8-day trip to India, visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Karauli. Jane aka Princess Etch A Sketch is a professional artist. She started learning the art since she was 4 years old. As they say, mastering the Etch A Sketch art is not child’s play but Jane did it anyway. During her trip to India, the 24-year-old captured some magical monuments in her mind shutter and documented them in the form of sketches. According to Business Insider, Jane spends one to 10 hours to draw a sketch.

"As an artist, I love doing things that have not been done, so going on a trip like this to chronicle it in Etch A Sketch sounded awesome," Jane told Business Insider.

"The Taj Mahal was the hardest sketch from the trip because it was the most detailed and required the most precision and patience to create," Jane said, according to Business Insider.

"The trip was amazing because I got to see so many beautiful structures and experience a vibrant culture and eat delicious food," Jane said.

The drawing tablet Jane has opted for is a very serious art form which needs constant concentration. A slight movement or every time you shake it, can erase the work. "I've definitely had my moments of frustration, especially when I've accidentally erased my work," she said. "My mistakes are less frequent now than they used to be but it's mainly because I've learned to slow down and be more patient as I work."

One of her hardest sketches ever was of Russia's St. Basil's Cathedral, it took her more than 20 hours to complete.
