India Fail To Reach Women's T20 Semifinals

India's Women's T20 World Cup dream came to an end after New Zealand registered a comfortable 54-run win against Pakistan. The latter team attempted to chase 111 runs in just 10.4 overs but settled for 56 runs, the second-lowest all-out score in the tournament's history.

The previous day, India faltered to reigning World Cup champions Australia, by 9 runs. Despite missing their captain Alyssa Healy, the Australians took control of the match and breached the 150-run mark. Annabel Sutherland's phenomenal last over sealed their victory.

India's chance to make the semifinals depended on Pakistan's win as their net run rate was lower compared to the 'women in blue'. India's net run rate was +0.322 while Pakistan's was -0.488. However, Team New Zealand was able to stump both teams and enter the semifinals.

India's campaign started on a sour note after settling for a loss to New Zealand by 52 runs. However, in the match against Pakistan, Arundhati Reddy's three-wicket haul gave them an edge. In the match against Sri Lanka, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana scored half-centuries, landing India's biggest victory in T20 World Cup history, by 82 runs.
