Wow... what a spectacular match it was! Hats off to both the star players for fighting till the end. It was finally PV Sindhu who aced ahead in the game and defeated Saina Nehwal in a much-awaited quarterfinal match in the India Open badminton tournament today.

The entire nation was focussed (and perhaps painfully split in their fandom) on the badminton court. At the end, Sindhu crushed Nehwal's game, to surge into women's singles semi-finals with a comfortable 21-16, 22-20 win.
Both the star shuttlers on Thursday clinched their respective games from the opponents and eased into quarterfinals in the ongoing India’s Badminton World Federation superseries tournament in New Delhi.
Both players are in the last-eight now. While the Olympic silver-medallist and World No 5, Sindhu is a young and strong player – meanwhile, London Olympics bronze-medallist and the eighth seeded Saina is seen defending her place with credentials as the ace shuttler'. She has fought hard and gotten back to her game since her knee surgery. The Hyderabadi badminton player put up a valiant fight but the better played got the best of the court.

The last and only time they both had a clash against each other was in a BWF event, when Saina beat Sindhu 21-14, 21-17 in the title round of the 2014 India Grand Prix Gold in Lucknow.
Sindhu will now battle against second seeded South Korean shuttler Sung Ji Hyun in the semifinals.
