With two more cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19 detected in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the total number of cases have now reached 10 in the state.
As per the official statement by Maharashtra's health department, the cases were confirmed on Monday. Both the patients are asymptomatic and have been admitted to Seven Hills Hospital. ANI reported that one of the patient is a 37-year-old man who returned from South Africa and the second one is his 36-year-old friend who had returned from the United States of America.
India Omicron Cases:
The cases of Omicron variant were reported from Maharashtra for the second consecutive day. So far after the two cases in Mumbai, India has 23 cases of Omicron variant.
In the view of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus, the IMA (Indian Medical Association) demanded the government for a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to medical staffs and frontline workers. It will be a precautionary measure to ensure that the medical staff and frontline workers can give their services fearlessly.

According to the doctor who who raised the alarm over Omicron, the patients suspected of having the new coronavirus variant had only shown mild symptoms and recovered fully without hospitalisation.
A lot of research being done suggests that the symptoms of Omicron are more like common cold and nothing like Covid-19 cases. According to scientists, Omicron might not be fatal but there are doubts about its transmissibility. The symptoms indicate that the variant does not causing severe illness.
Dr Rakesh Mishra, Former Chief of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology said, "People are likely to confuse this with the common cold as there is no breathing trouble or loss of smell or taste, which may increase its spread."
