On the road to earning huge memento for the country, Indian women’s football team showed a brilliant performance in the SAFF Women's Football Championship at the Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri on Monday when they climbed up another step, beating Nepal 3-1 to enter in the finals.
India’s Kamala Devi who got the first chance to kick a goal in the 45th minute, following added another point by Indumathi in the 58th minute. At the end, it was a nail biting session as Sasmita Malik struck the final rout in the 83rd minute while on the Nepal’s side, Sabitra Bhandari reduced the margin in the 75th minute from a penalty.

Dominant India never really gave a chance to the opponent. They set the pace of the match in the first-half. By the time India had already scored a point ahead, Nepal by the 25th minute tried defending quite hard to hit a goal but failed to convert it as the second half of the game was also in India’s favour too. India
India took it slow to take control in the 2nd half. They earned several corners throughout the match.

According to India’s coach Sajid Dar, the match was a total 'team effort which saw India through.'
At press conference later, Sajid said, "It is hard to single out any single Player. Right from the Goalkeeper to our defenders to the midfielders to the strikers, everyone played their part. It was a team effort."
