In Uttar Pradesh a constable was arrested for threatening a 16-year-old rape survivor to withdraw a complaint against the accused. On November 20, the accused constable, identified as Mohammed Yusuf, went to the girl’s house and allegedly threatened her and her mother.
According to the Times of India, Yusuf also reportedly took away a SIM card to destroy evidence against the accused. The rape accused Adnan and he is currently in jail.
The issue was brought to the notice of Moradabad SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police). An FIR (First Information Report) was registered against Yusuf under IPC (Indian Penal Code) sections 166 for causing injury to any person, 201 for causing disappearance of evidence, 504 for intentional insult and provocation to any person, and 452 for house-trespass after preparation for hurt, reported TOI.

Bilari SHO (Station House Officer) Prabhakar Sharma said that Yusuf was found threatening the rape survivor to withdraw the case. Sharma further added, “We have collected enough evidence against him. I have also received his suspension order.” Yusuf was sent to jail on Wednesday.
The girl’s family had lodged the complaint in Moradabad’s Bilari police station earlier this month. The SHO Prabhakar Sharma was investigating the case.

About the incident
The girl was alone when she was allegedly raped by the accused. She was rescued by her mother who returned home at the time of the incident. The accused reportedly fled from the spot.
Later on, the girl informed her mother that she was assaulted in the past as well. She remained quiet because she was threatened by the accused. Subsequently, the girl and her mother approached the police and registered an FIR against the accused.
