In Bihar’s Madhubani Disabled Minor Raped, Her Eyes Damaged; 3 People Arrested

In a bizarre incident reported from the Madhubani district of Bihar, a minor hearing and speech impaired teen was allegedly raped by a group of men. On Tuesday, the young girl was grazing cattle in a field when some men reportedly dragged her to an isolated spot and sexually assaulted her.

As per reports, the perpetrators further tried to damage the teen's eye with a sharp object fearing she would identify them. 

The girl who is in a critical condition was rushed to the hospital once her family was informed about her lying unconscious in a neighbouring Manoharpur village. Doctors attending the minor have informed “...one of her eyes is completely damaged while another is injured. During treatment she was unconscious.”

Station house officer Prem Lal Paswan said they have arrested three suspects in connection with the crime and further investigations are ongoing. He additionally informed that the minor was admitted to the nearby Umgaon community health centre, but doctors referred her to Madhubani Sardar Hospital due to her critical condition. “We will record the girl’s statement with help of a translator,” said Police superintendent Satya Prakash.

In a similar incident, reported from Maharashtra’s Nashik district, a 13-year-old minor girl was allegedly gangraped by seven men, of which one was a minor boy and a woman who were connected with the incident. The accused men were between 19-29 years of age. The police have nabbed all 7 accused based on the complaint registered by the minor's parents. The woman allegedly helped the accused men in the crime. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the accused. Read about it more here.
