She Raised Her Son Alone, Now This IIM-A Student Takes Her Name To Thank Her

IIM-A student takes single mom's name: A student with the name Het Shitalben Shukla has made it to IIM-Ahmedabad. One would wonder what's so special about him worth reading? Well, his name Het Shitalben Shukla includes his mother's name in it as a token of gratitude acknowledging her efforts of raising him single-handedly.

He firmly believes that it was his mother's hard work and dedication that helped him accomplish this feat. He grew up in Bhopal and has lived in a rented house for a major part of his life. As per sources, His mother holds a degree in mechanical engineering and used to help him in his studies. She used to give tuitions to earn and manage the household expenses. He pursued his Bachelor of Science (Hons) course in Horticulture from Anand Agricultural University. He has also worked at a private firm as a sales and purchase executive for agricultural commodities. He got through IIM-A on his second attempt.

He has now been admitted at IIM-A in the PGP FABM (Food and Agribusiness Management) programme for the 2021-23 batch. It was his second attempt.

His fascination with this premier institute of India can be traced back to his childhood when he would pass by the main campus. It was through Chetan Bhagat's books that he got to know more about the institute and aspired to study there some day.

When asked about how he plans to use his degree, he said that he was passionate about solving the problem of loss of post-harvest horticulture crops that majority of farmers face. He will be studying the concepts of management here and apply them later to solve the problem.
