PV Sindhu has proved her mettle again after winning the China Open Super Series. Months after she notched up the title of being the first Indian woman to win a silver at the Rio Olympics in August this year, nothing was going right. After being crushed out of the Denmark Open, Sindhu emerged triumphant in China Open.

The hard part was of course, Sindhu's battle with USA’s Beiwen Zhang to qualify for the semis. Sindhu, who had lost against Bingjiao in the second round of the French Open Super Series last month, this time fought valiantly and defeated her in the semis the reach the finals. Finally, on Sunday, Sindhu clinched her maiden Super Series premier title at China. There she was, an emotional Rio Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu lifting the cup.

Watch Interview: Fierce and fearless, here’s how PV Sindhu takes on wins or failure
"It has been a dream for a long time to win a super series. After the Olympics, everyone was asking me what's next? It was important for me to get a super series title. Life changed a lot after the Olympics. People thought I will take a long time to get back. But I worked hard," Sindhu said, as TOI reported.
No wonder she is flooded with laurels since her maiden win.
The 21-year-old Sindhu scored a close 21-11, 17-21, 21-11 victory over China's Sun Yu to clinch the China Open. "This is my first super series title and I am very happy, I have no words to express. Last time, I played Denmark final," she added.

When asked about the tournament and the match, Sindhu said: "I played well. It is a great day for me. I just thought I can give my best, because I practised hard. I was quite confident. From the first round it was tough. The first game was very easy. I am playing her after two-and-a-half years, she is also tall like me and we both are attacking players. I lost the second game and in the third I started well and from 11-7, I maintained the lead."
Proud moment for India again. @Pvsindhu1 wins the #Chinaopen , her first super series title. Many more to come. Many Congratulations.

With this win, Sindhu became the third Indian woman in a row to make it to the China Open singles final. Sindhu contributed her name in a list of aces, including Saina Nehwal, who won the title in 2014 and finished runner-up in the 2015 edition and K Srikanth, who also had won the China Open in 2014. Having been amongst them, an ecstatic Sindhu can’t control but show how contented she is to emulate the former world No. 1:
#chinaopen2016 #premiersuperseries The fav tournament for Indians! @NSaina @srikidambi and now @Pvsindhu1 ! 👏👏

Winning a Super Series title is a big achievement for Sindhu since it’s a start in bringing the season back on track for the Indian. We are sure in future there will be many more Sindhus fighting for India.
