A woman in Hyderabad was arrested for stalking and kidnapping a television anchor for marriage. This act was allegedly prompted after the woman was scammed and cheated by another man using the anchor's photographs on a matrimonial site.
According to the police, a 31-year-old woman identified as Bhogireddy Trisha runs a digital marketing company and is a managing director of five other companies. She was fixated on the photographs of a TV anchor named Pranav Sistla on a matrimonial site two years ago. The woman was duped of Rs 40 lakh by the fake matrimonial profile which led her to abduct the TV anchor.
Hyderabad Woman Abducted TV Anchor In Bizarre Marriage Attempt:
The accused woman along with her four company employees were arrested by Hyderabad police on Saturday based on the complaint lodged by Pranav Sistla alleging the woman and the man hired by her for stalking, abducting, and physically assaulting him.
The woman even placed an Apple AirTag to stalk the car of the TV anchor, according to the investigating police.
How A Fake Matrimony Profile Led To TV Anchor's Kidnap?
According to the report, Trisha came in contact with an unknown person named Chaitanya Reddy through the Bharat Matrimony website who used TV anchor Pranav Sistla's photos to con the woman. As the conversation with Trisha progressed with the conman on WhatsApp and Instagram he allegedly asked Trisha to invest in his business promising good returns.
Trisha agreed to the deal and transferred Rs 40 lakhs after which the man started ignoring her which made her realise she was defrauded by the man. This led her to dial the contact number provided on the matrimonial website which connected her to Pranav Sistla.
Sistla informed the woman that the man used his pictures to create a fake matrimonial website and it was not him who duped her of money. He also informed Trisha about lodging a cyber complaint for the same as well.
Trisha allegedly continued messaging Sistla which led him to block her number. However, undeterred by the setback, according to the police the "intimacy-seeking stalker" then hatched a plan to abduct the TV anchor to "sort things out" with him.
According to the police, Trisha then went ahead hiring three people from her office paying Rs 50,000 each to carry out the mapped plan of abducting the TV anchor as she made an office employee of her company place an Apple AirTag on Sistla's vehicle to even track his movements.
On February 11, the hired men also abducted Sistla taking him to Trisha's office and subjecting him to even physical assault. Fearing for his life, Sistla promised to respond to Trisha's texts and calls and only then he was let off.
Sistla then rushed to the police station to report the incident and a case was registered under the relevant IPC sections 363 (Kidnapping), 341 (Wrongful restraint), and 342 (Wrongful confinement). Using technical evidence a case has been registered against Trisha and she will now be sent to the court.
This incident highlights the dangers of online interactions and the potential for obsessive behaviour to escalate into harmful actions. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining healthy boundaries and seeking help if experiencing unhealthy fixations.
