Hyderabad Man Kills Wife In The Name Of COVID Death
Vijay claimed to his wife's family members that, Kavitha succumbed to COVID-19. Further, he arranged for an immediate funeral by carrying the dead body in his auto-rickshaw to Pelligundla Thanda, his native village in Nalgonda district, to evade any suspicion. He made sure that nobody came in contact with the dead body under the pretext of her being infected with the COVID virus and quickly finished the final rites.
However, Kavitha's parents grew suspicious when neither of them got infected despite coming in contact with their deceased daughter. Kavitha’s mother, Dhanavath Bujji, approached the Vanasthalipuram police on June 24, following her suspicion and complained that Vijay foul played over Kavitha's death.
The Vanasthalipuram police reportedly exhumed in the presence of local officials and conducted a spot autopsy which hinted at the fact that Kavitha's death was not due to COVID infection.
According to a report by The News Minute, The Police said that Vijay tried to “screen himself from the guilt” and thought that he could evade any suspicion if he did not let the family members and relatives closely inspect the dead body.
Further investigations revealed that Vijay and Kavitha used to face marital problems. Moreover, Vijay suspected his wife of engaging in an extramarital affair.
Having established the death as a pre-planned murder, the police arrested the accused on July 3 and produced him before the court.
