In the case of a gangrape of a 17-year-old inside a Mercedes in Hyderabad, three out of five accused identified were minors, the police informed. Police are verifying the role of the sons of two politicians including an MLA in connection to the rape.
Hyderabad West Zone DCP Joel Davis said that the allegations directed at the Home Minister’s son-in-law were invalid. He said that the teenager allegedly gangraped could not reveal anything about the culprits. “She only revealed one name and special teams were immediately formed to nab them,” he said.
The Telangana police have arrested two accused persons so far in the case. One of them has been identified as Saduddin Malik and the other second accused is a juvenile, as per reports.
He also added, “CCTV footage has been recovered. We’ve identified culprits as per CCTV footage as per the statement of the victim.” On Thursday, late at night, it was claimed that the officers got leads and were hoping to track down the accused.
Hyderabad gangrape case:
- The minor girl was allegedly gangraped inside the luxury car by five other teenagers in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills area last Saturday. Sources have revealed that the students belonging to classes 11 and 12 are from influential families.
- The girl had reportedly gone to a pub along with a friend. Her friend had left early and she had befriended a boy at the party who promised her that he would drop her home. However, they stopped at a pastry shop en route, parking the Mercedes car in Jubilee Hills. The five boys sexually assaulted her while others stood guard outside the car.
- The girl’s father noticed injuries on her neck and inquired her about it after which she said that some boys had attacked her at the party in the pub. On the complaint by the survivor’s father, police on Wednesday registered a case under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences Act (POSCO) before investigating the matter.
- On the day of the alleged incident, the girl, on the invitation of her male friend went to the party with the consent of her family members. Though the party was held at a pub, it was a non-alcoholic event between 1 pm and 6 pm, clarified the police.
- The survivor reportedly escaped and returned home. Police were verifying CCTV footage to identify the accused. One of the seized cars was registered in the name of an MLA. The police earlier said that they do not have clarity about the identity of the suspects. The survivor, in a state of shock, was unable to name and identify them. However, the names of a few boys linked to the person in public life have been noted by the police. “But as of now, it is only a rumour, we cannot comment on it,” the officer said.
