For people who seem to think they have witnessed or heard many eccentric and odd incidents in the news, prepare to be puzzled. A doctor in Mumbai recently took to social media and called out an ice cream brand after he discovered a piece of a human finger inside the ice cream that he ordered online.
Beyond Peculiarity: Human Finger Inside Ice Cream
The irony seems to surprise many, as the man who found this peculiarity fell upon him was in fact a doctor. Dr Orlem Brandon Serrao living in the suburbs of Malad was purchasing groceries online like most of us when he succumbed to his cravings and added a few ice cream cones from the Yummo brand. Dr Serrao quickly shared a video of this disaster and was left traumatised.
As he described later to the police, one of the flavours he ordered among several cones was butterscotch. As he began enjoying his ice cream he felt like a huge nutty piece of chocolate must have come his way but as he spit it out he noticed it was neither of the two but rather something less nutty- a human finger. He stated, "I had ordered three cone ice creams from an app. One of them was a butterscotch ice cream from the Yummo brand. After eating half of it, I felt a solid piece in my mouth. I thought it could be a nut or a chocolate piece and spat it out to check what it was."
Doctors and surgeons have vast experience operating on human bodies and are also well-versed in the human anatomy, which in this case served Dr. Serrao well. He mentioned, "I am a doctor so I know what body parts look like. When I carefully examined it, I noticed the nails and fingerprint impressions under it. It resembled a thumb. I am traumatised."
Dr Serrao wanted to preserve the finger for the police and put it in an ice pack and filed a complaint against the food company- Yummo Brand for adulteration of food. Although it is a peculiar incident it points to a larger picture of crime where a cut human body part has somehow reached a food manufacturer unit which does not happen now and then. While this raises suspicions, the finger has been sent for forensic analysis and the investigation is underway.
