Talking to SheThePeople.Tv about the myriad advantages that such online communities offer, she says, "An online mommy community is one such beautiful platform where moms of all ages come together and talk about their kids, share concerns, ideas, experiences. In Mumo Mumbai Moms, mothers ask for home remedies for as basic as skin allergies, hair growth for kids or for themselves."

She further says that despite Google being a treasure trove of information, a lot of mothers still post these queries on her group looking forward to a pool of reliable suggestions that pop-up from mothers who had once grappled with the same problems.

"Mumbai Moms has been a part of beach cleaning drives, marathons, fundraising for various NGOs," - Neha Kare

"It helps moms to discuss about their apprehensions and get diverse opinions and views about everything," she adds.

Neha's initiative, which started as an online community for women, has expanded over time to include experienced doctors, surgeons, child psychologists, nutritionists who are helping mothers in distress. "They participate actively in all discussions and give their input," she shares.

One of the most significant tenets of the community is that mothers are free to virtually interact with each other anytime, sitting in the comfort of their homes.

Besides resolving parenting-related dilemmas, the group plays a significant role in sensitising mothers about issues concerning menstrual hygiene. Sharing her experience of conducting one such online talk, Neha recalls, "As a founder, I just asked my fellow mommies their views on "Menstrual Cups" Vs "Sanitary Pads" and trust me, I still recollect my group kept buzzing for the next few days, we rolled out an entire campaign of online chat with the group, at a specified time and date, so that all the women could get online and we could actually chat."

Now, that's what we call commendable use of technology.

While giving mothers the freedom to express their concerns online, Neha Kare organises a gamut of activities to encourage women to meet each other in person."

"I love to meet my fellow mommies who are part of my community. And when it comes to offline, we organise many networking meets for entrepreneurs or mothers looking at 'Return to Work'." These are golden opportunities for moms to meet other moms closer to their vicinity and also network through their area-wise Whatsapp groups.

Neha has expanded her ambit significantly by participating in a lot of community-based activities. "Mumbai Moms has been a part of beach cleaning drives, marathons, fundraising for various NGOs," she says, adding that there is a separate "freedom fighter team" looking after all NGO-related activities.

It is great to see mompreneurs like Neha harnessing the great potential technology and social media to contribute to something so noble.
