Hindu Woman Assaulted For Wearing Burqa: After a video of a mob assaulting a Hindu woman for wearing a burqa went viral, two persons were arrested by the police. The incident took place a week ago at Akola district in Maharashtra.
A couple and their friend were beaten up by a mob because the woman wore a burqa despite being a Hindu. The police action on the incident was taken after the video went viral on social media. Although, the couple and the friend had not registered a First Information Report (FIR) since they were scared that their parents might come to know.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Ural police station. In the viral video, the couple and their friend are confronted by a mob. The couple were on a bike. According to the police officer from the Ural police station, the couple were assaulted after the mob came to know that they were Hindu. Tracking through the video, the police managed to trace and arrest the accused. Both of whom are from the minority community.

Since the couple did not lodge an FIR, the police have arrested the two accused under section 151, which deals with arrest to prevent the commission of the cognizable crime, of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
