A shocking incident allegedly involved a Patna High Court advocate attempting to rape a 22-year-old law student who was an intern in his office. Niranjan Kumar, the accused, was taken into custody.
A 22-year-old law student working as an intern in the office of a Patna high court advocate was allegedly the victim of an attempted rape. According to reports, the intern was working under the accused, Niranjan Kumar, an advocate in the Patna High Court. He is said to have attempted to rape the intern.

According to the latest reports, the accused has been arrested. According to the Bihar Police, Kumar has been charged with violating Sections 341, 342, 354, 354(A), and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Other case specifics have not yet been disclosed by the police.
According to Section 341 of the Indian Penal Code, wrongful restraint of a person is punishable by simple imprisonment for a term that may not exceed one month, a fine that may not exceed 500 rupees or both. According to Section 342, any person who unjustly confines another person will be punished with either a type of imprisonment for a term up to a year, a fine up to a thousand rupees, or both. Section 353 is the punishment for sexual harassment and its repercussions. While Section 504 punishes intentional insults intended to cause a disturbance.

In a similar incident, the Karnataka State Bar Council revoked the licence of a special public prosecutor (SPP) who had been accused of sexually harassing a law intern. Two law students filed separate complaints against advocate K.S.N. Rajesh for sexual harassment and criminal intimidation on October 18, 2021, prompting a suo moto action against him on October 21, 2021, according to the reports. Rajesh served as the SPP for the Lokayukta in Mangaluru. The Women's Police Station in the Mangaluru city limits received the complaints.
One of the two complainants, a second-year law student who began working as an intern in Rajesh's office in August, has accused him in her complaint of attempted rape, molestation, criminal intimidation, sexual harassment, and voyeurism, among other things. A third-year law student had also made another complaint against the SPP, alleging kidnapping, criminal intimidation, and threats.
