Hathras Gangrape Accused Taken To Gujarat For Polygraph Test And Brain Mapping

As per the report, it will take around a week to complete the tests. The accused will be brought back to Aligarh jail in Uttar Pradesh after these tests are conducted.

The four accused in the Hathras gangrape and murder case of a 19-year-old Dalit woman were taken to Gandhi Nagar in Gujarat for polygraph test and brain mapping by the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) officials on Saturday.

According to a report by Times of India, the Jailor of Aligarh District jail Pramod Kumar Singh said that one head warden from jail was sent with the four accused to monitor them. The four accused - Sandeep, Ravi, Ramu, and Lavkush Sikarwar are from Boolagarhi village under Chandpa police station of Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to Hindustan Times, on Thursday, members of the CBI team investigating the case reached the deceased Dalit woman's house and interacted with her family members. They also questioned a village boy named Chotu, who was reportedly the first person to reach the crime spot. During their investigation, CBI has also interrogated the family members of the four accused.

On Saturday, a civil rights body claimed that members of the woman's family are living in fear for their lives after the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) cover given to them was withdrawn. People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) members demanded security for the family and their rehabilitation through the Nirbhaya fund reported The New Indian Express.

About the incident

A 19-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gangraped by four upper-caste men in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh on September 14. The girl died at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on September 29 while undergoing treatment, two weeks after the incident. It has been alleged that the woman's cremation was conducted “forcibly” by UP  police without the consent of her family. 

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the Hathras gangrape case had also raised questions over the late-night cremation. You can read more about it here.

 The Uttar Pradesh government faced intense criticism over its handling of the Hathras case. The state government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath then recommended a CBI probe into the case. The Allahabad High Court is also monitoring the probe under the directions of Supreme Court. 

As per the India Today report, the woman had accused the four men of gangraping and attempting to strangulate her in her 'dying declaration'.
