The 19-year-old Dalit girl was brutally gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh's village Hathras on September 14. She was initially rushed to J.N. Medical College and Hospital in Aligarh but was later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi after her condition deteriorated. On Tuesday morning she succumbed to her injuries after fighting for her life for 15 days. All four accused, have been arrested by the police.
The family has of late alleged that her funeral was conducted without their consent. According to the latest reports, Hathras DM has denied the allegations. He said, "The allegations that funeral was conducted without family's consent are wrong. The father & brother gave their consent to conduct funeral at night. Family members were also present at funeral. Vehicle carrying victim's body was present at village from 12:45 to 2:30am."
