Haryanvi singer and dancer Sapna Chaudhary recently joined BJP at the party's membership drive in Delhi. She was known to have campaigned for the North East Delhi BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari in the recent Lok Sabha elections. The BJP recently launched its membership drive program, which was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Sapna joined the party in the presence of Madhya Pradesh chief minister and BJP Vice President, Shivraj Singh Chauhan BJP general secretary Ram Lal and Manoj Tiwari, who is also the Delhi BJP chief. The celebrity turned politician is a former Big Boss contestant.
Moreover, she also became the first person to join BJP in its membership drive in Delhi as she reached the stadium in the morning. The Bharati Janta Party has organized its membership drive program to encourage more people to join the party.
However, the celebrity had made it to the news in March, when it was supposed that she joined Congress, according to some photos on social media. In March, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar had posted a picture of the singer along with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who was seen welcoming her into the party. "Without Sapna's consent, Congress has used her old pictures to spread the news that she has joined Congress and will contest from Mathura. She is the biggest superstar and Congress has stooped to such level, which was not expected under Priyanka Gandhi Vadra," Manoj Tiwari said.
The BJP recently launched its membership drive program, which took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. She joined the party in the presence of Madhya Pradesh chief minister and BJP Vice President, Shivraj Singh Chauhan BJP general secretary Ram Lal and Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari.
Sapna herself denied joining Congress party later. Previously, her photos with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were circulated all over the internet. She then called for a press conference and denied joining Congress, adding that the photo being circulated is an old one.
Though it was a speculation, the rumours of Sapna joining Congress party still attracted comments from certain political leaders. Bharatiya Janta Party member Surendra Singh had said, "Indian electorate will never allow a dancer to run the country." Sapna is quite popular in the Hindi speaking belt of the country. "There was no need to think twice. I was highly impressed by BJP's work. BJP is a great party and I have taken its membership," said Ms. Chaudhary, according to news agency ANI.
In 2016, Sapna made it to the headlines when she tried committing suicide. She, later on, shot to fame when she participated in Big Boss.
Born in Rohtak Haryana, Sapna started dancing at a very early age and soon gained popularity. Soon she became the most demanded stage performers in Haryana. Not only a dancer, but Sapna also is a great singer. It is said that she started dancing in order to provide financial support to her family, after her father's death. She currently resides in Delhi.
