"She is self-isolating at home. She got tested on Monday and the report came positive on Tuesday morning. She had mild fever for four days so thought it was best to get tested. She is doing fine otherwise and should recover soon," a source told PTI. "She was getting tested regularly during the South Africa series so she must have caught the virus after that only," the source added.
After a long pause, Kaur had shown decent form in the ODIs scoring a half-century and a 40. Her team returned to competitive cricket after a gap of almost 12 months. Last month, India faced South Africa in five ODIs and three T20Is after playing on 8th March 2020 during the heartbreaking final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020. India, unfortunately, lost both the ODI and T20 series.
The all-rounder Kaur played a key role in India’s march to the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017 final, where she scored an unbeaten 171 against Australia in the semi-final. She had also captained brilliantly throughout the ICC Women’s World T20 and become the second Indian cricketer to play in the Kia Super League in 2019. Smriti Mandhana was the first to play in KIA, when she joined defending champions Western Storm earlier in June 2018.
Kaur has come a long way since then. Talking about personal growth, the 31-year-old told Sportstar, “As a person, I have learnt a lot in these years. I have seen ups and downs – there have been times when I have played good cricket in the right frame of mind, sometimes the form has been a bit here and there. I want to share my experiences with the team-mates, so that even when they face a dip in form, they can bounce back too.”
