Banned From Using My Own Name: Designer Hailey Paige In Legal Battle With Design House

Popular wedding outfit designer and social media celebrity Hailey Paige Gutman took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce that she has been banned from using her own name "in public in any business context," owing to an ongoing legal battle with JLM Couture. Also stating her resignation from JLM Couture, which is the parent company of her fashion label Hailey Paige, she broke down in her 8 minute-long video message. She mentioned she is no longer allowed to operate her account @misshayleypaige and will no longer be associated with the brand, including the "designs and dresses which bear my name."

According to Insider, Gutman's claims come following JLM Couture's, which has allegedly sued her "over her personal use of social-media accounts affiliated with her brands." Additionally, she has been accused of "using the account for personal and promotional posts "as if she were an influencer." Gutman, in her video, claimed she has been in the midst of a "year-and-a-half-long legal battle to negotiate a new contract with JLM."

Hailey Paige Says She No Longer Runs Her Instagram Account

"I am mortified and devastated, but I wanted to tell you that I am no longer posting or engaging on that account until this matter is resolved in court," Gutman said in the video, which has reportedly been posted to her alternate account @allthatglittersonthegram. She claimed that though her older verified designer account is still functional, with over 1 million followers, she does not have access to it anymore.

Gutman, who is also a noted personality on social media apps TikTok and Pinterest, said her ownership over them has also been suspended. In the caption of her video, she expressed disappointment with JLM CEO Joseph Murphy. She wrote she was "shocked" that he "could or would do this to me."

PEOPLE, with access to official documents, meanwhile quoted, "JLM Couture states that in the Employee Agreement signed by Gutman, she agreed to let the company trademark rights to "Hayley Paige" and all derivatives... extended to the social media account @misshayleypaige and other accounts on platforms including Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and YouTube."
