In Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior, a 32-year-old man allegedly raped a woman. He set her on fire days later, along with her husband and their seven-year-old daughter. As per reports, he took this step after the family had finally mustered courage and tried to file a rape case against him.
The man poured petrol on them and set them afire on Monday night after the husband went to a local police station to lodge a First Information Report (FIR). The woman said so in her statement to police that the personnel on duty did not lodge an FIR as per this report.

The three had severe burn injuries and were taken to a government hospital. Their condition is said to be serious. According to Gwalior police superintendent Amit Sanghi, when police went to arrest the accused, his family told them he too had received burn injuries and was admitted to a private hospital.
Sanghi said that as per the woman's husband, his friend allegedly raped his wife on October 31 when she was alone at home. The accused further threatened her of the consequences if she told anyone. Although the victim did tell her husband, the couple were scared to lodge an FIR. This gave the accused more courage and he started asking the woman to meet him.
Police is looking for the accused in all the private hospitals of Gwalior. Simultaneously, an inquiry is being made about the accusations made by the victim that police at Thatipur police station did not lodge her rape complaint.
