A Gurugram University professor was arrested allegedly for sexually assaulting a female colleague. A complaint was filed against him by a junior colleague for sexually exploiting her multiple time. If the education system is laid under such authorities, what influence will students have?
After lodging a complaint, the Internal Complaints Committee terminated him from all of his positions. The professor identified as Dr. Dhirendra Kaushik is also a former dean of pharmaceutical sciences at Gurugram University. He was arrested after evading the police.
Gurugram Professor Assaults Female Colleague
Earlier this April, an FIR was filed against the dean. Since that day, he has been on the run, and the police have been searching for him. Neither of his college colleagues could contact him nor attend the college meetings. However, officials received information that he had arrived on the campus on Monday. The police team arrived on the campus to arrest the accused.
According to the complaint, Dr. Kaushik had been pressurising and sexually harassing her since January 2023. She warned her multiple times but kept passing lewd comments and molested her for sexual advances. The survivor was threatened and yelled at times for no reason.
After enduring for a longer time, the survivor filed a complaint against him for sexual harassment and criminal intimidation. The court rejected anticipatory bail for the accused so that he could no longer harm the assistant professor.
It is disheartening to know that the authority of an educational University turns out to be this awful. The education provider, who should give guidance, and explain the difference between right and wrong, became a predator. How will it influence the students? Will parents send their children to schools and colleges, especially girls? Knowing the protector is only the predator, who will take this chance. We need a system to address such problems quickly. It is important to improvise the hiring criteria of the authorities.
