In an unusual case of marital fraud, Gurugram police have registered a report against a bride and intermediaries of this arranged marriage set up as a newly wedded bride decamped with a lumpsome amount of wealth from her in-laws' house in Bilaspur.
After the wedding rituals, there was a welcoming celebration for the newly wedded couple till late at night, but the following morning as the groom went to work, it came to notice that the freshly wedded bride was allegedly missing along with ₹1.5 Lakh cash and jewellery from the house.
Gurugram: Bride Flees With Cash And Jewellery On Second Day Of Marriage:
On Monday, the Gurugram police filed a case based on the complaint filed by Ashok Kumar, the father-in-law of the accused bride. According to the complainant, he was looking for a bride for his younger son consulting his relatives and acquaintances for the marriage prospect of his younger son.
One of his acquaintances Manish, suggested that he should meet a woman named Manju who claimed to know a suitable match to end his search for a bride for his younger son and introduced Kumar to her accomplice.
Manju and her accomplice then made it clear that the bride's family hails from a poor family and does not have any money to which Kumar said that they don't want dowry and gave the bride's family some clothes and ₹1 Lakh after Kumar's family approved the girl for marriage, according to the complaint.
The Wedding And The Disappearance:
On July 26, Manju and her accomplice along with the bride named Preeti arrived at Jhajjar court where they conducted a court marriage. Following the court marriage, Kumar returned home with his new daughter-in-law and there was a celebration at Kumar's house that continued till late at night.
The next morning, the celebrations took an unexpected turn when Kumar's son went to work but Preeti went missing. Upon looking for Preeti at their house, it became apparent that Preeti fled their house in Bilaspur with ₹1.5 Lakh cash and jewellery.
Action And Investigation:
Kumar quickly informed Manju about Preeti's disappearance along with money and jewellery to which Kumar did not receive any positive assurances for Manju's whereabouts. When Kumar tried to contact Manju's accomplice, in return Kumar received life threats.
Taking action on the cheating and theft, Kumar lodged an FIR against Preeti, Manju, and her unnamed accomplice at Bilaspur Police Station on Sunday, as per a senior police officer adding that a thorough probe in the case is underway.
