After all the controversy against the video that DU student Gurmehar Kaur posted on social media, she has now withdrawn her peace campaign. She recently wrote on Twitter, “I'm withdrawing from the campaign. Congratulations everyone. I request to be left alone. I said what I had to say..,”

She added in another tweet, “I have been through a lot and this is all my 20 year self could take”

The campaign is about students and not about me. Please go to the March in huge numbers. Best of luck.

To anyone questioning my courage and bravery.. I've shown more than enough

One thing is for sure, next time we will think twice before resorting to violence or threats and that's all this was about (2/2)

LSR, the college where she studies backed their student with this message:
DCW on Monday gave its full support to Gurmehar. They even deployed their own home guards for the safety and security of the young girl. But it seems she could not take the social media war that has begun between the supporters and non-supporters.
The message of the video was to end the war between two countries, India and Pakistan but one mistaken tweet by cricketer Virender Sehwag opened up a pandora’s box of hate and abuse on Gurmehar. The Ramjas College fight was put on the backburner and people found a new target in her to throw filth on.

She was not just ridiculed and called all sorts of things, but she has also received rape threats from men who could not digest the fact that a girl could also think above their level of superficiality and come up with something that is actually worthy of thought. Ending war is a message to reckon with, not a message to start another war.
Here are a few significant tweets to this case:

It is clear that this brave 20 year old @mehartweets has rattled not just cricketer/actor bhakts but also ministers with her honesty.
