Gujarat Widow And Man Assaulted Over Alleged Affair, 6 Arrested

Gujarat Widow Assaulted: A group of four men and two women were arrested on August 1 at Gujarat's Sancheri village after they allegedly assaulted a widowed woman and a man on July 30 over accusations of being in an affair.

The police said on Monday that the group of accused beat up the victims over the accusation of the 30-year-old woman being in an affair with the man who was married to another woman already.

According to a report by NDTV, the police arrested the four men and the two women in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district. The incident took place last month in Sancheri village around 116 kilometres near Himmatnagar town.

A day after the incident, an FIR was registered by the victim on July 31, according to Gambhoi police station Sub Inspector PP Jani.

The accused men were identified as Vadansinh Chauhan, Rakeshsinh Chauhan, Rajuji Chauhan and Kalusinh Chauhan and the two women were identified as Sonal Chauhan and Surekha Chauhan. They were accused of assaulting a woman with an intent to outrage her modesty, criminal intimidation and rioting.

The report added that the victim, who lives in Sancheri village, is a mother to four was accused of having an affair with a married man.

The victim stated in her complaint that she accepted a lift from the man when she was returning after some bank-related work on July 30. The man was reportedly married to the sister of one of the accused.

While the duo was on their way, four of the accused stopped them near Raigadh village and allegedly assaulted them physically. They were later taken to Sancheri village where two others joined the group of assaulters and allegedly tonsured the widow as well as the man who had offered her a lift, according to a report..
