Gujarat: Principal Kills 6YO Girl For Resisting Rape, Dumps Body In School Compound

A school principal in Gujarat's Dahod reportedly sexually assaulted a 6-year-old female student and killed her when she resisted on September 19, police said. The accused, identified as Govind Nat, was arrested three days later when he confessed during the interrogation. The principal had picked up the Class 1 student from her home on the way to school. He then attempted to sexually assault her in his car and allegedly smothered her to death when she resisted, police reported.

How The Principal Pretended Everything Was Normal

For at least three days, Govind Nat went about his routine like everything was normal. On the day of the girl's murder, he hid the body in his car and then dumped it in the school backyard at the end of the working day. The incident came to light when the police interrogated him about the child's absence and his "time of leaving" the school premises on September 19.

According to a report in the Indian Express, Dahod Superintendent of Police Rajdeepsinh Zala said that 10 different teams of officers gathered accounts of the girl’s classmates, teachers and villagers. He said, “Her mother had seen her off at their village home at around 10:20 a.m. that morning and entrusted her to the principal, who took her to school in his vehicle."

Zala said that Nat pretended he “was unaware” of where the girl went after he dropped her at school. The accused also claimed that he “received a phone call in the evening from the class teacher, informing him that the child was missing”. A technical investigation was initiated to check the principal's mobile phone location, after which he confessed to the brutal crime.

The SP said, "He confessed that he had attempted to force himself upon the victim on the way to school in his car. However, the girl had resisted and began screaming. To silence the girl, he smothered her… He then went about his day as usual and kept the body of the girl in the car for the entire day. After school dispersal, he pulled out the body from his car and threw it in the backyard."

Nat allegedly also placed the girl's bag in the classroom and left her slippers outside to mislead investigators. However, her classmates and teachers told the police that she had not come to school nor was her body seen in the backyard during school hours. According to the police, one of the students said that he had “seen the girl sleeping in the principal’s car”, when school dispersed.
