A 10-year-old girl from Malaysia has taken her passion for chess to the next level by successfully arranging a chessboard in just 45.72 seconds while being blindfolded.
The girl identified as Punithamalar Rajashekhar’s remarkable achievement has earned her a place in the esteemed Guinness World Record for the “quickest blindfolded chess set arrangement.”
This outstanding performance took place on the premises of Punithamalar’s school, where parents, teachers, and school management witnessed it.
Guinness Record For Blindfolded Chess Arrangement
Speaking to the Guinness World Record, Punithamalar said that her father is her coach, adding that they play together almost every day.
She expressed that breaking this record had a significant impact on her life and filled her with pride and a sense of uniqueness, and she hopes that her success will inspire others to pursue their own passions.
Punithamalar went on to share that the idea of attempting a world record came to her while watching a documentary about extraordinary achievements. “Seeing people push their limits and achieve incredible feats inspired me,” she said.
She has earlier participated in various events, including Kids Got Talent, and felt that she needed to achieve more recognition. Her father also suggested that she focus on her passion, and she decided to aim to break this particular record.
The 10-year-old’s favourite subject in school is mathematics, and she aspires to become a space scientist when she grows up. She also enjoys memorising facts and images. Punithamalar actively participates in several school competitions and exhibits her talent for public speaking and storytelling.
The young achiever also expressed her intent to attempt yet another record in the category of blinded play.
Puducherry Girl Sets Record For Arranging Chess Set
In other news, back in January, a 12-year-old girl from Puducherry named S. Odelia Jasmine marked her place at the Guinness World Record for the “fastest time to arrange a chess set” in 29.85 seconds. A video of the girl’s remarkable achievement was posted on the official Instagram handle of the Guinness World Record. It shows Odelia picking up the chess pieces from a jumbled plate and placing them in their respective places on the board. The banner in the background showed that the record was set in 2021. The girl had practiced for a year to break this record.
