In a bizarre turn of events, a wedding procession in Chandigarh turned out to be a mockery after the groom's family figured that the bride and her family were missing from the venue. The groom, Sonu, reached the venue in the city with his family and friends only to find out that the bride (Kajal) and her family had opted out of the wedding.

As per the reports, Sonu met Kajal four years ago and the duo soon got into a relationship. After they decided to tie the knot, Sonu spoke to the woman's father, Shish Lal, who fixed the wedding date for July 11. The wedding was to be held in Rahimabad’s Hasimpur.

Sonu, originally belonging to Unnao's Orias Devpur, registered a complaint against the bride and her family at Rahimabad police station as informed to the media portal by Dharmendra Singh, assistant commissioner of police, Malihabad.

“As soon as they reached the village, they started searching for the wedding destination they were informed about. They also tried to reach out to the bride’s family, but none could be contacted. Consequently, the groom and the entire baraat returned after filing a complaint,” SHO Anubhav Singh told media.

The groom told the media, "We kept looking for them the entire night, but we could not find them. When asked by locals, they told us that no one by such names exists.”

However, as per the SHO, the FIR is yet to be registered as the complainant has provided only a nine-digit phone number. “We’re yet to lodge an FIR as the complainant provided only nine digits in the phone number on the complaint letter,” told SHO adding that the groom and his family have claimed that they have lost around five lakh rupees. Sonu used to give Kajal money whenever she needed it. Police is trying to reach out to the groom's family who registered the complaint with an incomplete phone number.

Sonu further explained, "She told me she belonged to Rahimabad. We developed feelings for each other and decided to marry. I even spoke with her father, Shish Lal, who approved and fixed July 11 as the wedding date."

But Kajal's phone was switched off on the night of the fixed wedding date. Reportedly, Kajal stopped talking to Sonu on July 10. According to the police, she said that the wedding preparations were done and her relatives had arrived so she could not speak to Sonu on call.
