Grandma Celebrates 93rd Birthday By Dancing To 'Aankh Maare', Video Goes Viral

You are never too old to celebrate your birthday with enthusiasm, good food and dancing with your loved ones. But the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has sucked out all the celebration and joy out of birthday parties. However, a 93-year-old woman from Kolkata is in the news for celebrating her lockdown birthday with much vigour. On the occasion of her 93^rd birthday, the grandma not only cut a cake with her family at home but also swayed to the beats of popular Bollywood song Aankh Maare from the film Simmba. 

The video was shared by the woman's grandson, Gourav Saha on his Facebook account. He also shared a few pictures of the birthday party at their residence in Kolkata. Apart from the colourful balloons, hats, cake and candles, the party got its zest from the gorgeous grandma who was clad in white saree with the broad golden borders, necklace and a sweet smile. What added to the elegance of grandma’s birthday look was the small crown on her head. In the complete video on YouTube, shared by Chandreee Dey Saha, grandma can be seen blowing the candles and cutting the cake. Soon after that, the family joined her on a make-shift dance floor in the house. As the song Ankh Maare plays in the background, Saha's grandmother can be seen swaying and giving her best dance moves to its beat in the now viral video.

The video has received 4,000 plus shares, with over six lakh views and more than 5oo comments. Wishing grandma on her birthday and appreciating her infectious energy, one of the users wrote, “Mindblowing…Age is only a number nothing else. While another user commented, “She is so cute and energetic!” Calling grandma an inspiration for the youth, another user wrote, “umra ke is padaav pr bhi aisa dekh kr yuva peedhi ko prerna de rhi .dadi maan hjaro vrs hm sbke beech me rhe aisi meri kamna h” (Long live the grandma who is inspiring the youth of today).

Just a few days ago, a video of 76-year-old Ram Girdhar and 72-year-old Prerna went viral in which they could be seen dancing together on the song ‘Ghagra’ from the movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Even more adorable was that the couple tried to match their clothes and dance steps to that of Ranbir Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit who were featured in the original song. Read more about it here.
