Lydia Ko will end 2022 as the top-ranked female golfer in the world and a newlywed. Lydia Ko, a native of New Zealand, wed her fiancé Chung Jun in South Korea.
After winning the CME Group Tour Championship in late November, Ko rose to the top of the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings. On Friday, she married Chung Jun in Seoul's Myeongdong Cathedral. The New Zealander first revealed her August engagement to Chung, whose father serves as vice chairman of the Hyundai Card credit card company in Seoul.

On her Instagram Stories, Ko posted images from her wedding. Ko was beaming as she made her way down the aisle in a white lace gown with a long train and veil at Seoul's Myeongdong Cathedral.
Her two-year boyfriend is now her husband. Ko admitted that she proposed to her then-boyfriend first, using a golf theme to do so. "I was like, 'Why does the guy have to propose?'" Ko told NZME in October. She added, "I played it very much like golf. I wrote "Will you marry me?" on golf balls.
She said it was very complicated as her boyfriend then proposed to her after she had also proposed to him. Ko stated that her fiancé then had the chance to pop the question. "During our engagement photo shoot, he proposed. Really cool. It surprised me. He kept mentioning numbers, such as the number of days we have been friends, and other such things. I briefly wondered, Why are you throwing numbers at me? before I realised what was happening."

Ko's coach, Sean Foley, told NZME in March that the golfer was "madly in love." "Her boyfriend is a lovely young man, sort of a world-class guy, and I couldn't be happier for her," said Foley. He stated, "I believe that some of her great play may come from the fact that there are two things going on right now and her identity is not just tied to her playing golf." A memorable year comes to an end with Ko's wedding.
