Girl selling bird food: Bhumika is a 15-year-old girl who used to juggle between helping her mom sell bird food and her studies in the Connaught Place area of Delhi till yesterday. Police officers at a local police station in Connaught Place were moved by the photograph they saw in the Times Of India. The station house officer, I K Jha, decided to help the teen by getting her enrolled in a girl's school and sponsoring her education.
In the SHO's room, Bhumika expressed her desire to study hard, support her family and grow up to join the police force in the future.

The girl with dogged determination is the second youngest among her mother's five daughters. The family stays in a one-room house in Nihal Vihar on a rent of Rs 2,000. Bhumika's parents are separated.
Good Samaritans like the SHO officer reiterate our faith in humanity. A few days ago, Gaurav Gupta, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief also came to the rescue of 15-year-old Banashankari after discovering that the girl sold flowers to earn a livelihood to study. He gifted her a laptop in order to make it easier and comfortable for her to study.
“I’m feeling extremely happy that he (Gaurav Gupta) helped me. I want to study well and get a good rank. I want to bring a good name to him and my parents by studying well. On the phone, I wasn’t able to listen well and this laptop will be very helpful. He (Gaurav Gupta) told me to study well and become a good student.”, the girl said. She aspires to become a doctor.
