On Thursday, in Cheemna village of Ludhiana, a tragic incident took place when an unidentified assailant brutally murdered a 19-year-old woman within the confines of her own home. The chilling act was captured by a CCTV camera as the attacker fled the scene.
What Was The Incident?
According to the Ludhiana rural police, the victim, Gurmanjot Kaur, aged 19, was at home with her grandmother Harbans Kaur when the horrifying incident took place. At that time, her parents, Nirpal Singh and Paramjit Kaur, were away in Jagraon town.
Providing her account to the police, Harbans Kaur explained that Gurmanjot had gone to a restroom near the cattle shed located in the backyard. During this moment, an unknown man forcefully entered the cattle shed and carried out a fatal attack on Gurmanjot.
In response to Gurmanjot's cries, Harbans Kaur rushed towards the washroom and witnessed the assailant fleeing the scene. Although neighbours were alerted by her cries, unfortunately, Gurmanjot had already succumbed to her injuries. The grieving father Nirpal Singh shared that Gurmanjot had recently taken the IELTS exam and had aspirations of studying abroad on a student visa.
What Police Says
Inspector Amarjit Singh, the SHO of Sadar Jagraon police station, revealed that the perpetrator had also taken the woman's mobile phone, but robbery does not appear to be the main motive behind the heinous act.
An FIR against unidentified individuals has been filed at Jagraon Sadar police station, and the police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify and locate the assailant.
