In a recent incident in Kochi, Kerala, a 5-year-old girl abducted from her house in Aluva was found dead in a garbage yard. The police made an arrest in the case and took a man belonging to Assam into custody.
The accused in custody is suspected to be a migrant worker who relocated from Assam to Kerala for work.
Kochi Girl Found Dead In Garbage Yard
The 5-year-old girl was abducted from her house last week. The investigation, which was in full swing, came to an end with a tragic discovery. Her body was found in a garbage dump yard a day after she went missing. The accused works odd jobs in the region and is identified as Asfak Alam. He was charged with abduction and murder of the little girl.
The victim's parents were at work when this incident occurred. The couple had relocated to Kerala from Bihar's Bishambharpur of Pashchim Champaran district. The girl was one of the four children of the couple.
According to Ernakulam rural police, the migrant worker used to live near the house of the victim and her family.
Police Superintendent of Ernakulam Police Station Vivek Kumar talked to the press about the incident and said that the deceased girl was missing from her house around 3 pm on Friday when her parents were at work. Her parents lodged a complaint around 7 pm, and the police immediately filed an FIR.
The accused was caught after CCTV footage captured him carrying the little girl. The police nabbed the accused late at night and arrested him. The accused was intoxicated at the time and took some time to reveal the location of the girl. He confessed to his crime the next day after which the investigating team recovered the victim's body from a garbage box in the market.
The motive behind the crime is yet not disclosed as SP Vivek Kumar said the incident is under investigation.
