9-Year-Old Girl Dies By Suicide
Pratiksha, the young girl in question, had made almost 70 different reels within the span of six months, and had gained a reputation as the ‘reels queen’ in her local area.
On Monday, Krishnamurthy, the father of the girl, saw his daughter playing near his in-law's house and requested her to go home and study. He left to refill his bike and came back around 8:15 p.m., only to find that the house was locked from the inside. He then asked his daughter to unlock the door for him.
After their return an hour later, the house was found to be securely locked from the inside. Despite repeated attempts to gain Pratiksha's attention, both through persistent knocking and loud calls from her concerned parents, there was no response from their daughter. Upon finding his daughter hanging from a cotton towel around her neck and struggling to breathe, she was immediately taken to the hospital but unfortunately declared dead upon arrival.
An officer investigating the suicide of the young child attributed the cause to social media. The police stated that unrestricted access to the internet exposes young people to various types of influences.
The occurrence has caused a stir within the community and emphasises the stress that Indian children encounter to excel academically. This terrible event brings attention to the significance of parents and educators prioritizing the mental well-being and health of children, instead of solely emphasizing academic achievement. To create an environment that supports children's learning and growth without imposing undue pressure or stress, it is imperative to offer a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes independence.
