Another Indian teenager has made the country proud by breaking a world record. A 16-year-old girl from Latur, Maharashtra, who danced for five days straight shattered the previous record for the longest dance marathon.
As per the Guinness World Records, Srushti Sudhir Jagtap broke the record for the longest dance marathon by an individual. She danced for a continuous 127 hours. The previous record of 126 hours was held by a dancer from Nepal, which she took over in 2018.
Girl Breaks World Record In Dance
GWR Official Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar described that Jagtap's dance marathon took place in her college's auditorium, which was interestingly packed with people who cheered for her all the way. He added that there were times when she was too exhausted but her parents' constant presence throughout helped her achieve this feat. From misting water on her face to keeping her hydrated, her family helped her in whatever way they could.
The attempt by Jagpat began on May 29 in the morning and lasted until June 3 in the late afternoon. She then rested for the rest of the day.
To achieve this record, an approved dancing style must be executed fairly, and the participant's feet must always be moving in time with the music, according to the record-keeping organisation. One of the eight primary styles of Indian classical dance, Jagtap performed in the Kathak style.
She spent 15 months getting ready for her record attempt. She received her instruction from her grandfather, Baban Mane, who gave her lessons in Yoga Nidra, a type of guided meditation commonly referred to as "yogic sleep."
The previous record holder for the "longest dancing marathon by an individual" was an Indian girl, but an 18-year-old from Nepal broke it by dancing nonstop for 126 hours.
At a ceremony conducted at his official residence, Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had also praised Bandana Nepal for accomplishing the achievement. The teen danced from November 23 to November 28 to set a new world record. Bandana took on this challenge primarily to promote Nepalese music and culture, but it was also a personal challenge as she had been dancing since she was a young child, as per the Guinness World Records website.
