An elderly woman was brutally beaten up on the streets of Kavi Nagar area in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh by unidentified men. She reportedly had attempted to stop an eve-teasing attempt at her daughter. The entire incident was captured in a video which has now gone viral and making the rounds on Twitter. In the video, it can be seen that the woman was mercilessly thrashed by a man and a chair was thrown at her in full public view. The man had also passed some lewd comments, according to reports.
The crime was reported after the video went viral. The incident reportedly took place on Saturday afternoon.

A case has now been registered with the Kavi Nagar Police Station and the investigation is on. After the brutal incident, the woman was taken to a hospital for medical treatment and she was reportedly declared in a critical state. She is under observation.
According to the Ghaziabad Police, on Tuesday, after the FIR was lodged by the complainant they have arrested one suspect. Police, however, claimed that the complaint does not mention any matter of eve-teasing but the old woman had alleged that she was beaten up by some local youths, the police said.

Abhishek Verma, SP of Ghaziabad said that the accused is identified as Sunil Chaudhary. The survivor's son claimed this is not the first time that Chaudhary has beaten up somebody. "A few days ago he assaulted another elderly woman similarly over a minor issue. He would often indulge in commenting on women or girls," said the woman's son. He said his mother has critical injuries, but is stable for now.
