Ghaziabad acid attack: A man from Ghaziabad threw acid on his sister-in-law while she was asleep, reports said Monday. The man was suspected by his father-in-law and during the police interrogation, he confessed to the crime.

The accused man is named Lakhan Yadav and is from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The accused is married to the acid attack survivor's elder sister. The man was reportedly trying to establish sexual relations with his sister-in-law while staying at his wife's house.
According to police, the man threw acid on the survivor at 1:30 AM in the night between Sunday and Monday after which he came back to bed and acted to be asleep. The survivor was rushed to the hospital by the man's father-in-law who also suspected him of the crime. The accused also accompanied them to the hospital to avoid suspicion.

An FIR was filed by the survivor's father against Yadav, following which the man was arrested and interrogated. The man said that the reason for the attack was jealousy as the survivor was talking to other men. The police have charged him under IPC section 326 A.
The bottle of acid has been recovered and it is being probed from where he obtained it, the SHO said.
In other similar cases, a woman threw acid on her former boyfriend allegedly after learning that he is intending to marry another person. According to the police statement, the two worked at the same hospital and were in a relationship for a long time. The man was taken to the hospital but couldn't survive.
