In a shocking incident, a man killed a woman shortly after she unfriended him on a dating app. 39-year-old Fabiola Thomas was found in her bathtub in June 2019 in her Roswell, Ga., apartment by her roommate. The Georgia man, Antonio Wilson, then 38, who was alleged to be the culprit, has now been sentenced to life imprisonment with no parole.
As per the reports, the investigation began on June 8, 2019, when Thomas’ roommate called the police and said that he found her in a bathtub and that “something bad had happened to her.”
When the police arrived at the death spot, they found Thomas’ body unresponsive. She was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead.
Several months later in the investigation, a medical examiner revealed that the death of Thomas was a homicide.
When police got to know about Wilson
It is during the investigation that police learnt about Wilson. They got to know that Thomas and Wilson met on a dating app a few days before her murder.
Assistant District Attorney Abigail Potter told WSB-TV that Thomas did everything that a woman could do to ensure her safety. "She told her friends where she was going. She would only meet him in public places,” the attorney said.
However, when she wanted to discontinue, Wilson couldn't handle the rejection.
Before her death, Thomas sent a text message to Wilson asking him to stop calling her. She wrote, “Keep your ring, I’m not your woman, never was, stop claiming me because I never claimed u,” as cited by WSB-TV who interviewed the prosecutors.
Senior Assistant District Attorney Nalda Charles told WSB-TV that days before her murder, Thomas had unfriended Wilson on the app they met. However, it is still not clear on which app the duo met.
Wilson sentenced to life imprisonment five years later
On October 25, 2019, months after Thomas’ death, Wilson was arrested under the charges of homicide.
Five years after his trial, he was sentenced to life imprisonment. A jury just spent 30 minutes before finding him guilty.
Finally, on July 23, a judge sentenced Wilson to life imprisonment with no parole.
