Television Actor Gehana Vasisth Gets Bail In Porn Racket Case

Actor Gehana Vasisth gets bail in a case related to pornographic videos, reports said Saturday. She was booked and arrested with several others earlier this year in February after police busted an alleged porn racket in Mumbai's Madh Island. Police said the accused allegedly used to lure aspiring actors into porn work on the pretext of offering them film roles.

Representatives for Vasisth at the time had claimed she was being framed in a porn racket and was only involved in shooting eroticas herself. Read more here. 

Known for her work in ALTBalaji’s web-series Gandii Baat, the 33-year-old had reportedly shot over 80 pornographic videos and uploaded them to her website to be viewed with a subscription worth Rs 2000.

The Dindoshi Sessions court reportedly pronounced her bail order Friday. Vasisth cannot move out of the country until further notice, reports quoted her lawyer saying.

Vandana Tiwari whose alias is Gehana Vasisth made headlines in February 2021 for her alleged involvement in a porn controversy. She was one of nine persons arrested by the Mumbai police after a tip-off alerted them of a gang operating in Madh Island allegedly forced small-time actors to get involved in porn work.

Police had said of Vasisth then, "She would get struggling actors to work in films and lure them to work for her. An actor working for her was paid Rs 15,000-20,000 per movie."

Her publicist Flynn Remedios, following her arrest on February 7, had appealed for authorities to "treat her on humanitarian grounds" owing to her health conditions. They claimed the actor suffered four cardiac arrests in the last year and had closely escaped death in 2019.

"...she has only produced and directed films that are permissible in law and at most can be classified or categorised as erotica. She is being falsely implicated and trapped or made a victim by vested interests," the publicist further said.

Vasisth was reportedly also charged with gangrape and wrongful confinement for a video she shot with three men.
