Former actor Gayatri Joshi and her husband Vikas Oberoi have recently returned to Mumbai following a tragic car accident in Italy. This incident, which occurred in Italy's Sardinia, resulted in the unfortunate loss of two lives when a Ferrari and a Lamborghini collided.
For those who may not be aware, Oberoi serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of Oberoi Realty. The Oberoi group issued a statement concerning the well-being of the couple, stating, "Our Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Vikas Oberoi, and his wife, Mrs. Gayatri Oberoi, were in a multiple car accident in Sardinia, Italy early this week. They are safe and have returned to Mumbai today."
According to reports from Italian media, there is no apparent case registered against Oberoi at this time. The reports also note that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Joshi's husband, Vikas Oberoi, was earlier under investigation in Italy's Sardinia following a high-speed collision involving multi-vehicles including a Lamborghini and a Ferrari. According to Italian news agency L'Unione Sarda, Oberoi was driving the blue Lamborghini Huracan during the incident.
The 54-year-old has been listed as a suspect in a potential double-road homicide case, as reported by the news agency. The tragic crash resulted in the loss of a Swiss couple, Markus Krautli and Melissa Krautli, and also caused a camper to overturn.
Although the Lamborghini's roof was severely damaged, both Oberoi and his wife emerged from the incident unharmed. Public prosecutor Giangiacomo Pilia has stated, as reported by L'Unione Sarda, that the police have acquired several videos from the crash scene and are conducting a thorough investigation.
One of the videos, filmed by a car following Oberoi's vehicle, depicts multiple sports cars trailing behind a camper van on a narrow two-lane highway. The blue Lamborghini attempts to overtake the van, and at that precise moment, the Ferrari behind them swerves sharply in an attempt to overtake both vehicles, resulting in a collision with Oberoi's car.
Gayatri Joshi And Her Husband Meet With an Accident In Italy
The accident reportedly took place on the Sardina road, Italy, during the Sardina Supercar Tour event where the luxurious cars were travelling from Teulada to Olbia. It was here that Gayatri Joshi and Vikas Oberoi's car was involved in the multiple-vehicle collision.
The accident occurred as a Lamborghini and a Ferrari tried to overtake a camper truck simultaneously on the narrow road which caused the camper van to overturn and collide with other vehicles. The Ferrari caught fire leading to the death of an elderly couple from Switzerland.
The elderly Swiss couple were passengers of the Ferrari that caught fire in the accident leading to their tragic demise. The couple is identified as Markus Krautli (67) and Melissa Krautli (63).
However, like other cars, Gayatri Joshi and her husband's car managed to escape the sight unhurt as Gayatri told the Free Press Journal that with God's grace, they are "absolutely fine" confirming that they met with the accident.
The video of the accident was recorded on a car's camera moving behind the luxury car parade and the camper truck and the video soon surfaced online.
