Free Sanitary Napkins To Be Available On All Noida Line Metro Stations

Do you care for free sanitary napkins? Metro stations are gearing up for providing these around the national capital. From International Women's Day, this March 8, 2020, twenty one Noida metro stations will provide sanitary pads for women free of cost. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), which operates and manages the Aqua line, will also name two Metro stations on Aqua Line- Sector 76 in Noida and Pari Chowk in Greater Noida's "pink stations".   "Besides the cosmetic changes, these pink stations will have facilities like baby-feeding room, diaper-changing facilities, and a vanity-cum-changing room," said NMRC officials.

As per News18, NMRC is also aiming to have all-women staff on these two stations. NMRC official said that besides security staff, all other staff will be female on the pink stations. NMRC will also set up a sanitary pad vending machine at all 21 stations. The NMRC official also said, "Any commuter will have to get a token at the Metro station which could be used at the vending machine to get a sanitary pad absolutely free of cost."

Delhi Metro Celebrates International Women’s Day

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is also organizing various activities to celebrate women's day. DMRC organized Slogan writing competition on the theme "Women Empowerment and Delhi Metro” for its women commuters. DMRC also organized a poetry writing competition for its women employees on the theme "Women Empowerment and Delhi Metro”. These competitions were organized from 4th to 6th March 2020.

DMRC received more than 500 entries for the slogan writing competition. Out of all the entries, the best three slogans were selected.  For the poetry competition also three best poems were selected out of the poems submitted by DMRC’s Women employees. Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC  awarded the winners of both the competitions at Metro Bhawan.

Mr. Sharat Sharma, Director, Operations and Mr. K. K. Saberwal, Director, Finance of DMRC were also present on the occasion. DMRC also organized a quiz competition at the Metro Bhawan. A presentation on the topic “Work-Life Balance and Dilemma of Working Women” was also organized by DMRC at the occasion.
