Former Fox News Reporter Courtney Friel's Memoir To Be Turned Into A Biopic

Courtney Friel, a former Fox News reporter and present KTLA-TV anchor, has reportedly signed up a biopic deal with Zero Gravity Management. Friel’s 2020 memoir Tonight At 10: Kicking Booze and Breaking News details her ascent in the news business. It includes her story of getting hired at the age of 26 by Fox News as a national correspondent and her struggles with alcohol and drug addiction.

So Who Is Courtney Friel?

A political science graduate from San Diego State University, Courtney Friel had earlier served as a reporter for various networks, including E! Entertainment, Oxygen Channel and Comcast Cable and the World Poker Tour. She joined Fox News in 2007 as a national correspondent and became the youngest person to be hired for an on-air position at the channel at just 26 years old. It was during this time that Friel reportedly started using substances to cope up with the pressures of her work. Her downfall into drugs and alcohol and her journey back to sobriety makes up for a big portion in her memoir.

But Friel’s memoir caused a huge uproar due to another reason. In it, Friel detailed a provocative conversation with Donald Trump, the present President of the United States, while she was working for Fox News. According to the published excerpts, Trump had called Friel and told her she was “the hottest one at Fox News,” then, “out of nowhere,” suggested she come to his office so they could “kiss.” Friel hung up after reminding him they were both married. At the time, Trump was an established real estate mogul and a reality TV star and was married to his current wife, Melania Trump. Friel wrote in her memoir, “This proposition made it difficult for me to report with a straight face on Trump running for president. It infuriated me that he would call all the women who shared stories of his bold advances liars. I totally believe them.”

When this excerpt was published, Friel was working with KTLA-TV, which then reportedly benched her and sent her on an unannounced break. There were many who questioned the move, although the TV channel refused to give any comments on it. As of now, Friel is back on the network, and had since then been working in her regular position in the channel.
