A four-year-old girl from Rampur was allegedly raped by a teenager in Vilaspur Police Station area. The accused is reportedly a relative of the girl and lives in her neighbourhood. The police are currently investigating the case and are in search of the accused who is absconding.
Additional SP Arun Kumar Singh told ANI on Friday that the accused is 15 years old and lives in the survivor's house. He further said that a case has been registered and efforts are on to nab him. In addition to that, he informed ANI that the incident happened at around 11 p.m on Friday night.

Many cases of sexual crimes against women and girls in Uttar Pradesh have come to light in the past few months. A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Hathras in September this year by her cousin. The minor succumbed to her injuries resulting from rape at a Delhi hospital on October 6. The deceased's family had refused to cremate her body, claiming inaction on part of the police and demanding the arrest of the accused.
In November a seven-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted before being killed in Kanpur. It was also reported that her liver and other body parts had been extracted for an occult ritual conducted by a childless couple. The case led to nationwide outrage raising questions on the safety of minors in India. All the four accused in the case were arrested. You can read about the incident here.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau data, almost 94 percent of rapes in India are committed by people known to the victim- friends, family members, live-in partners, employers, or others. The data stated that in 15,972 of the total 33,356 rape cases, the offenders were either family friends or neighbour or employer or another known person, while in 12,568 cases, the offenders were friends or live-in partner or online friends on the pretext of marriage or separated husband.
