Rinky Chakma's Cancer Battle
In an Instagram post last month, Miss India Tripura 2017 'Beauty With A Purpose' Rinky Chakma opened up about her cancer diagnosis for the first time in her two-year struggle. She said she had been struggling alone for quite a while and wanted to heal by herself before she told anyone. She said that she was diagnosed with phyllodes tumour, which is breast cancer.
After her first surgery, the cancer spread to her lungs and brain, Chakma said in the post, adding that she would soon undergo surgery. "My brain surgery is still pending as it's already widespread all my right side of my body till my lungs and it will only be possible if I heal with chemotherapy first with just 30% hope," she revealed.
She further disclosed her family's situation through her health conditions. "I just wanted to let everyone know that me and my family is going through a rough time and the last 2 years have also not been easy with regular hospital stays and visits,” she said. “I thought letting everyone know what I am going through would also make me feel better."
Chakma added that her family had been facing financial troubles due to her expensive treatment, adding that they were seeking donations. She also sought prayers for her betterment. The model had been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.
