Sana Khan, a popular face in the Indian film and television industry, announced on social media that she is quitting the world of show business, citing religious reasons. Thanking fans for the fame and wealth they accorded her, the former Bigg Boss 6 contestant said she is renouncing her presence in entertainment, for "it will be better if the slaves lives according to the command of his Creator and does not make wealth and fame his only goal." She ended her declaration asking everyone to not consult her "with regards to any Showbiz work henceforth." Khan has removed all old pictures linking to her earlier life as an actor from Instagram.

In a post on her social media handles, shared in English, Hindi, and Urdu, Khan wrote, "I declare that from today onwards, I have resolved to say goodbye to my showbiz lifestyle forever and serve humanity and follow the orders of my Creator. All brothers and sisters are requested to pray for me to Allah to accept my repentance and grant me the true ability to live in accordance with my determination of spending my life following the commandments of my Creator and in the service of humanity, and grant me perseverance in it."

Social Media Reactions

Colleagues like Meiyang Chang, Ridhi Dogra, Salman Yusuff Khan, and Divya Agarwal lauded her move and wished Sana Khan well for the path ahead. Chang wrote on Instagram, "That's a brave and beautiful decision to take, Sana. I pray you to approach this phase with the same honesty & zinda-dili that you've shown in your life until now. All the best."

Meanwhile, some social media users likened Khan's decision's to former actor Zaira Wasim's choice to leave Bollywood in 2019 on similar grounds of conflict. Koena Mitra, meanwhile, lashed out on Twitter calling this "hypocrisy."

Sana Khan On Bollywood Controversy

During the recent controversy surrounding nepotism in the aftermath of Sushant Singh Rajput's death, Khan had been vocal about the media's undue coverage of Bollywood, something she spoke about on social media openly. She even took a dig at people who were suddenly speaking out, reportedly saying in a post, "And actors who are supporting this campaign know that the cat is out of the kitty so let’s do something before everyone’s names pop up.”

On the alleged drug nexus in the film industry that is currently being probed by Narcotics Control Bureau, she added, "90% or more people do it... Hope people get to see the real faces of their idol's."

Khan's upcoming project was reportedly going to be the sequel of the 2006 film Tom, Dick and Harry alongside Dino Morea, Jimmy Sheirgill, and others, set for a 2020 release.

Who is Sana Khan?

Khan is known for her previous work as a model, reality TV show contestant and film actor across Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu industries. Her film career began in 2005 with Yehi Hai High Society. She was also seen in notable Hindi films such as like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Jai Ho, and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal.

She shot to fame primarily after appearing in the sixth season of Bigg Boss, as a finalist and was one of the most well-received contestants on the reality show. Aside from that, her television appearances also include shows such as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Fear Factor.
