Flower girl gets laptop: A 15-year-old girl named Banashankari sold flowers at the Adishakti temple in Bengaluru. She is a student of Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) who attended her online classes on a phone as she didn't have a laptop.
A video of her attending her classes on the phone while selling flowers had gone viral on social media as it moved many. She has been selling flowers for the past five years and on June 30 a gift made her life a little easier.
The determination of the girl moved Gaurav Gupta, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief as she reminded him of the events from his past. Roused by the hard work of a young girl who sold flowers to earn a livelihood to study. The BBMP Chief Gaurav Gupta gifted her a laptop.
On Tuesday, Gaurav Gupta spotted Banashankari and talked to her about her studies. Witnessing her determination and sincerity, he later promised to buy her a laptop for her online classes. Gaurav Gupta had said that her endurance reminded him of events of his own life and he expressed his engrossment in supporting her.
Banashankari was grateful for the gesture of BBMP and expressed her gratitude by saying that -
“I'm feeling extremely happy that he (Gaurav Gupta) helped me. I want to study well and get a good rank. I want to bring a good name to him and my parents by studying well. On the phone, I wasn’t able to listen well and this laptop will be very helpful. He (Gaurav Gupta) told me to study well and become a good student.”

Her family was contented by the gift and they encouraged Banashankari to study more. She currently studies at Mitralaya Girls High School and dreams to become a doctor.
