Pindari Glacier Trek, Uttarakhand

The beautiful Pindari Glacier hiking starts in Saung, about 36 km from Bageshwar, Uttarakhand. The gigantic glacier falls in the middle of Nanda Devi and Nandakot peaks. It is the primary source of the Pindari River. The trekking expedition moves along the edges of the serene Nanda Devi Sanctuary. On your way, you will also come across terrific views created by the peaks like Panwali Dwar and Maiktoli. The Pindari Glacier trek route takes you to the pristine village of Loharkhet. The best part about this trail is that it's easily accessible in the Kumaon region. It also serves as a perfect one for beginners to start their initial expedition.

Location: Bageshwar District, Uttarakhand 

Altitude: 3749.04m (12300 ft)

Best time: March to June and September to October. Should be avoided during monsoons.

The name, Valley of Flowers, in itself speaks volumes about the scenic beauty the trail offers. The place boasts of an amazing range of flora. Brahma Kamal, Cobra Lily and Blue Poppy are amongst 600 flowering species that bloom in the region. The trekking expedition begins from Govind Ghat, passes through the Ghangria, and finally leads to the destination - Valley of Flowers.

UNESCO, in 1982, acknowledged Valley of Flowers as a world heritage site. Frank Smith, a British traveller, discovered the pathway in 1931. The valley is covered with snow all through the winter.

Altitude: 3858 m (12657.48 ft)

Best time: June to September.

This trekking trail is one of the fascinating journeys across the country. The route offers a chance to explore rhododendron forests and mostly huge oak trees. Most of the time, the lake is covered with snow. However, every year as the ice melts, there are hundreds of human skeletons which seen lying around. The lush green surroundings and stories concerning the region make it a great trip altogether. 

Location: Chamoli, Garhwal, Uttarakhand

Altitude: 5029 m (16499.3 ft)

Best time: June to October

Churdhar Peak, Himachal Pradesh

This is the perfect trail for all adventure enthusiasts. The Churdhar Peak offers a great opportunity to experience trekking at its best. The expedition starts from Sarain and the route paves way for some great views as you can see different shades of the Himalayas. Lord Shiva's gigantic idol along the way is one amazing experience as well. Expeditions to the peak can also be started from Dadahu via Sangrah, Bhawai, Gandhuri and Naura.

Location: Sirmour, Nahan

Altitude: 3,647 m (11965 ft)

Best: March – June, September - November (autumn)

Malana Village Trek, Himachal Pradesh

Malana is a tribal village that is not explored to the fullest. Trekking to the Malana starts from the Manali – Leh road and comes to an end at the beautiful Malana Village. Currently, the Malana Village Trek is becoming immensely popular. It provides an opportunity to meet local people and learn their culture at such beautiful elevations. Through the way, you will experience the Chanderkhani Pass.

Location: Manali and its outskirts

Altitude: 3,029 metres (9,938 ft)

Best time to visit: September to December and January to June
