She alleged that recently, Janardhanan started contacting her by sending her very disturbing calls and messages. Prithika said that she told him to stop sending her these messages.
Police inquiry
The case was registered in the police station and the accused was called for questioning.
Janardhanan then gave an undertaking, promising the officers that he won't contact her again. The police too gave him a warning and let him go.
A police officer said, “We took an undertaking from Janardhanan before letting him go.”
Who is Prithika?
Prithika, earlier known as Pradeep Kumar, was born a boy in Salem in 1990. Pradeep was the son of an autorickshaw driver. He later underwent a sex change operation and changed the name to Prithika.
She had applied for a sub-inspector's post in February 2015, but her application was rejected by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board. The rejection was on the grounds that the she was a transsexual and there were just two categories for sex, which were male and female.
She then moved the Madras high court and a few months later, the court ruled in her favour. They directed the board to include a "third category" for members of the transgender community.
She received her appointment letter in February 2016 and is currently with the Choolaimedu police.
