The movie is a tribute to Malala. It's about her journey of fighting the Taliban and working for the global cause of girl's education
The inspiring story
In 2012, Malala and some other girls were shot on their way back from school by the Taliban in the Swat Valley. Taliban had banned girls from attending school and the attack was a lesson for those who defied its rules. Fortunately, Malala survived and received international support. She later became the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Since then, she has been an advocate of female education and human rights.
She founded the Malala Fund, a non-profit organisation, to support her global causes. In 2013, Malala also co-authored I am Malala, an international bestseller book about her.
“Cinema is a medium of being able to cause change for the being able to cause change for the better and through our feature we want to be able to do that in every way we can," director Amjad Khan told TOI.
The proceeds of the first day at box office will be donated to the Malala fund for the various initiatives it carries out, Khan added.
